Good Until They Start Leaking On You! March 12, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When my son was about three months old I started using these bottles, and they were wonderful! He no longer had any problems with gas, they were easier to clean because the bottoms screwed off, making it easy to get that caked on formula in the bottom, and they didn't leak... at least not at first. My only initial complain was that there were a lot of parts to keep track of, and occasionally a sealing disk would go missing at Grandma's house, and left me with quite a few incomplete bottles. After using a set of 9 for about a year and washing them on average every other day, I started to notice that some of them were beginning to leak out of the bottom. I tried ordering new sealing disks from Playtex, but after realizing that the sealing disks weren't the problem, I came to the conclusion that I must have worn out the main body portion of the bottle after all the use, and there was no way to stop them from leaking. I noticed that only a few of my bottles had that problem, and by the time it was apparent, my child was about to quit using bottles altogether. The leaking might just have been a bad set I had gotten, or it could have been from constant use. Whatever the cause, now that I'm on my way to have another baby, I'm looking into trying outat the Playtex Premium nursers, which, although they will force me to begin buying bottle liners, will lead to less midnight dish washing runs to get the bottles clean and hopefully take some strain off my bottles from having to be constantly washed!
Honestly, though, I loved these bottles and if it weren't for the leakage I started having, I would continue using these ones exclusively!
I wouldn't use any other bottles... March 10, 2006 I am breast feeding, but began giving our daughter expressed milk occasionally at around 2 weeks so my husband could be able to feed her as well. She took to this bottle right away, and in 4 months has only had gas twice. These bottles are very easy to assemble and I have never had any trouble with the nipple (she is still using stage 1) or the discs or anything. I typically wash them in the sink and then sanitize them once a week in the dishwasher. I have tried the Avent bottles as well, and just as everyone had warned me...they leaked. These bottles are great!
not for newborns March 7, 2006 The nipples for these bottles made feeding our newborn a frustrating experience on both ends of the bottle. The stage 1 nipples couldn't feed a sparrow, and the stage 2 flowed so quickly he would sputter and gag. It took until he was about three to four weeks old before he could handle the stage 2 nipples, and until then we were losing our minds during feeding, and I was trying frantically to find a better way, or better nipples to fit these bottles. Even three to four weeks can feel like an eternity. NOT the kind of stress new parents need.
great bottles March 1, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I really like these bottles for my son. They are very easy to clean and put together. I have never had a problem with leaking as I read in other reviews. One suggestion I used from the other reviews was to let the bottles and filter dry first before putting together, so maybe this prevented leakage.
Love these bottles. February 27, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
We recently visited our new born daughter who we are adopting from Guatemala and we took both these and the Dr.Brown's bottles. We really loved VentAire bottles. Our daughter preferred these to Dr.Brown's and we found that both left her with very little or no gas after feedings. As far as assembly and parts the VentAir is easier to manage than Dr.Brown. It is important to have the bottles completly dry before assembly to avoid leaks and for sanitary reasons but we did not find that a hassle at all. Sure it's one or two extra steps compared to old fashion bottles but it's worth it to have a happy gas free baby after feedings. Also, it makes it tons easier to clean the bottles because the bottoms come right off and you can scrub them easily. There were no problems with flow even after we boiled the vents and parts for cleaning. Overall, I think this is a great bottle.
