5 out of 5 stars Excellent bottles   January 3, 2008

I really like these bottles and they work for my 7-month old baby just fine, even better than Avent, because the size 3 Avent nipple is too hard and she gets tired of sucking on it, but with these I find she drinks all her formula quicker and without getting tired.

I have read all the complaints about formula not coming out of the nipples. I had this problem the first time I used one of these bottles, but the instructions tell you that you need to ACTIVATE the nipple. Pretty much, the hole in the nipple is sealed until you use it for the first time, so you have to squeeze the nipple until you can see that the hole in it open. After that first time, I did not have a problem again.

Read the instructions about the nipple and then try again.

I like these better than Avent and they are WAY cheaper.

5 out of 5 stars Um, Check the Nipples   December 2, 2007

I'm an older mom with a 15yo and now an infant. I LOVE these bottles. I don't understand why the other reviewers, the ones complaining about nothing coming out of the nipples (the holes shrink a bit the first time you sterilize them, which even happens with the Stage 2), don't just manipulate the top of the nipple a little to open up the hole again.

In addition, the plastic disk needs to be in place correctly in the bottom of the bottle and not screwed on too tightly, otherwise, you will get leakage or bubbles coming up from the nipple. It's not advanced calculus, here.

My baby was premature and has gas and reflux issues. She must be fed sitting up and not reclined into the crook of my arm. The angle of the bottle is PERFECT for mothers who feed their babies upright. It's also healthier for most babies, anyway, since the upright position during feeds reduces the risk of ear infection.

The Stage 2 nipple is excellent for the thickened feeds that my daughter must have. Stage 1 won't allow formula with cereal added to pass through, and the Stage 2 doesn't let too much through at once - unlike the disposable Enfamil fast-flow nipples (I have an entire crate of those if anyone is interested).

I didn't have too many choices when my 15yo was an infant. I couldn't be sure how much formula she was drinking with the drop-in bags, and so I opted for the Gerber bottles with standard nipples, which were great. However, I much, much prefer these VentAire bottles and am so glad I decided to use them.

1 out of 5 stars horrible bottles   June 25, 2007

These do not work as advertised. There are tons of bubbles coming up from the nipple when he drinks. Anytime I take the bottle out of his mouth I can see air in the nipple. He always burps and spits up after drinking from these bottles and he has painful tummy gas. Needless to say we will be looking for new bottles.

5 out of 5 stars BEST BOTTLES AVAILABLE   March 2, 2007

I've used this since my baby was born and she has done great with them! She's never had issues with spitting up or having gas. Now that she is 9 months old and likes to feed herself, she can easily hold it up so that she can get milk and not air unlike other kids at her daycare that seem to suck on air for awhile before they need help tilting it up more. The angle of the bottle is wonderful! It is so comfortable for me when I feed her (when she lets me!). I recommend these bottles and will use them when I have another baby in the future.

4 out of 5 stars Best bottle for our baby   November 2, 2006

We started using the Playtex Ventaire bottle system when our son was about 6 weeks old. We started out on the Dr. Brown's bottles because we heard they were the best. For the first 4 weeks, he did well with them. After that, he started spitting up a lot and had terrible gas. He couldn't even make it through 1 ounce without screaming in pain. We all suffered with this for about 1 week and decided to try a different bottle-the Playtex Ventaire, which we had received one as a baby shower gift. To our surprise, he tolerated 4 ounces without any difficulty-no gas, spitting up, burping loudly, nothing. Needless to say, I ran to our local Toys R Us and bought 6 more and have been using them ever since. He is now 10 weeks old and still doing great with this system. The ONLY drawback is that they cannot go in a bottle warmer. During the day, I just use the old pot of water to heat it up in. We have a 2 story house and of course the bedrooms are upstairs. At night, we bring up a cooler filled with ice and about 5 bottles and the bottle warmer so we don't have to keep running up and down the stairs. With the Playtex bottles, we have to heat up the formula in a regualr bottle and then dump it into the Ventaire bottle. It makes twice the work for cleaning, but worth it. At least he isn't in pain and sleeps a whole lot better! We actually get about 3-4 hours of uninterrupted sleep which is better than 1-2 hours like before!!! I would highly recommend trying this bottle.
